Estate Planning
We have the knowledge and experience required to work on copyright issues that arise when developing a comprehensive approach for handling copyrights and other intellectual properties that are part of an estate or a trust instrument, or that arise in the course of probating a will or administering a trust. The Federal Copyright Act has special provisions related to the disposition of copyrights of deceased persons, and we have the expertise for properly advising the estate planning bar regarding these issues. Indeed, Roy Gordet has made numerous presentations over the years to estate planning bar groups throughout Northern California.
Similarly, Roy has made presentations on the special issues that arise at the intersection of community property law and copyright, and was involved in one lengthy litigation concerning the disposition of copyrights belonging to a company jointly managed and owned by spouses.
